For each hand, each player's object is to complete and lay down the current phase, and lay down the current phase, and then rid their hand of remaining cards by discarding them on laid-down Phases, called "hitting". The player who does this first wins the hand and scores no penalty; all other players earn penalty points according to the value of cards remaining in their hand. Be aware that here at Hyde Park we don't always play by the official rules and a few players slip in some new rules from time to time.

The object of the game is to be the first person to complete all ten phases. The player who completed the last phase with the lowest overall score is the winner. If those scores also happen to be tied, a tiebreaker round is played where the tying players attempt to complete phase ten (or in variants, the last phase each player had tried to complete in the previous round).

An important feature of the game is that players can work with the tiles that have already been played.

putting down tiles from their racks into sets (groups or runs) of at least three, drawing a tile if they cannot play.

In the Hyde Park version, the first player to use all their tiles wins the game. Tiles are not counted, points are not added up. It's like this... a win is a win. Enjoy the win!

Rummikub is a tile-based game for 2 to 4 players, combining elements of the card game rummy and mahjong. There are 106 tiles in the game, including 104 numbered tiles (valued 1 to 13 in four different colors, two copies of each) and two jokers.

Players have 14 or 16 tiles initially and take turns

Join other Hyde Parkers every Wednesday from 1 to 3 for games in the
Card Room. Phase 10 and Rummikub are the games being played right now.
