We have the opportunity to bring Rob Olmstead, a pickleball professional instructor to our very own Hyde Park pickleball venue to provide instruction to enhance our pickleball play.

Rob is a lifelong tennis player, including collegiate-level play, who converted to pickleball play about 8 years ago.  He has attained a 5.0 DUPR level.  He has been teaching professionally for the last 4 years. He is a member of the seasoned age group, being 65 years old.
I have personally attended skills clinics he has taught and had multiple private lessons from him.
I find him very personable and professional and he has a wealth of pickleball knowledge. He is a very good communicator and he is very encouraging. I have already learned several things that have improved my play.
He has agreed to come to our courts and provide clinics based on our skill levels and needs. He can instruct up to 8 players at a time, allowing 4 people per court. He charges $80 per hour. This would be $10 per student, if we have a full 8 students.  If we have fewer than 8, the cost would be divided by the number of students.
No resident will make any money from this.
I need information from you to proceed with this opportunity.
  1. Is this an opportunity you are interested in?
  2. On a scale from 1 being minimal and 5 being very high, how likely are you to participate?
  3. How would you rate your level of play? Beginner, novice, intermediate or advanced? 2.0 to 5.0 level? (This should not be based on how long you have played, but your best guess at your skill level). THIS LINK will help you with self-assessment.
  4. What skills are you interested in improving (e.g. serving, forehand or backhand drives, drop shots, resets, getting to the kitchen, strategy, etc….)? List from highest priority to lowest
If you are not interested, please just reply to the first question, otherwise respond to all 4.
If you, or anyone you know has never played, but would like to try it, let me, Chris Spriggs or Paula Wise know and we can help you get started.
Please feel free to email or text me with any questions you have. Or 918-691-5704
Thanks, Jeff Black, Hyde Park Pickleball Committee activities director
